So I realized I didn't post any pictures yesterday or anything really (I know, you're also wondering about book news, stay posted though it's not much!) regarding the second day of our juicing prep.
So what Logician and I decided to do was thus: We have two juices a day and then dinner as normal. The first day we had our own juice creation for breakfast, I ate left over spicy boiled fish from a local restaurant for lunch while Logician had the last bit of the breakfast juice and then for dinner he had fish and I had the Gazpacho juice.
Note on the Gazpacho it was tasty, however I was lazy and didn't peel the lime which killed it. It was somewhat like torture to drink. But if the lime had been peeled it would have been epic!
I had a hard day Monday. My body was not really enjoying the lack of solid food and I ended up having to eat a little more when I got home simply because I was really on the edge of an irrational emotional meltdown. I had a very small bowl of rice and some Celestial Seasonings Tension Tamer tea and all was well.
So yesterday I woke up feeling sore EVERYWHERE! I was exhausted and grumpy. I got a 90 minute massage which was heavenly and very helpful, and then we had this AMAZING dinner of rice and what we call Indian Hamburger Helper (yes I know, processed food = bad but the ingredients in this one were fairly good) called Tempting Lentils with Sorrel leaves. To which we added a couple tilapia fillets and an AWESOME salad. Seriously food tastes so much better already.
So the juices for yesterday were:
The mean green (without the right amount of celery. It was supposed to be 4 stalks each, and we upped the Kale to 4 cups). It was delicious but sour due to the use of the Granny Smith apple. When we make it again we're going to use a red apple instead.
This one seemed to be a salad recipe that someone had changed into a juice. We used Green Leaf Lettuce in place of Arugula simply due to price. We also used Strawberries in place of dried cranberries for the same reason. We also found the juice does not like raisins, so next time we will soak them first (we added raisins). This one was a really strange color due to the mixture of the reds and greens but was rather tasty (if a bit bland, I cheated and added pepper and a dash of hot sauce).
This mornings was based of the Blackberry Kiwi recipe we found on the Reboot Your Life site. Blackberries were insanely expensive but as we're moving into strawberry season here in Florida, we just switched it out. We also added one Red Delicious apple each. This one also contains 1/2 cup of Coconut Water and we added two tiny pieces of Ginger left over from our breakfast Ginger-Lemon water. What we learned here was that Bananas do not juice (which we suspected) and for next time we will either blend the mint, banana and coconut water together and mix into the juice or we will use a mint extract and mash the banana with the coconut water.
We're having a broccoli juice for lunch, so I will post picture of that tomorrow afternoon with tomorrows juices (which we're making tonight as our schedule tomorrow is wonky). Tonight is our last meat meal before we begin to move towards full juicing this weekend. Tomorrow we're having Veggie Tacos (so freaking excited) and then Friday we will likely have a giant salad to use up whatever ingredients we have left that are starting to get wilty, old, etc.
Saturday we're going to three-six juices a day depending on how much we need. I am also considering added an all natural veggie based protein powder to mine because as a Massage Therapist my job is so physical I am scared of hurting my muscles. But I am going to try it without for a bit first and see how it goes!
Logician and I both have lost about five pounds so far but I don't know (for me at least) how much of that is water weight. But it's pretty awesome seeing as how I now weigh less than I did in high school eleven years ago!
So book news - I'm a slacker really. Haven't done much with it in awhile. I thought when the clinic first opened I would have lots of time to work on it, but that didn't last long (yea!) and have since not really worked on it. I'm hoping to get back to it tomorrow and keep working because I want that second draft DONE!
I am going to purchase Scrivener very soon too. I am so excited!
Namaste!
