So as a Massage Therapist I come across some awesome clients who are doing a lot to take care of their health. So when a few people around me randomly (without real connection to each other) started Juice Fasts/Cleanses I wanted to find out more.
They all started after seeing the documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead (Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead Website) which then intrigued me to watch it. At first I was just intrigued enough to watch them all complete their goals for time (10 days, 15 days, a month) but opted yesterday to sit down with the Logician and watch the documentary. I was intrigued and he was excited.
So we got on our handy dandy computing devices and checked out the website (Join the Reboot) for the Reboot Cleanse. Logician did some research to find out what a good juicer would cost and what it would be. Well fate was in our favor because we found the next model up from the one Joe used in the documentary, for $150 on sale at Macy's. Macy's is something like four blocks from our house and we walked in and there it was in all it's glory.
To continue our amusement the sales clerk was shocked that we knew what we wanted and the juicer came with the DVD of Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. So off we went to the local grocer who sells a lot of local produce to invent a juice to try out. We got enough items to make breakfast juices for today and then decided to play it by ear from there.
Well our snack juice was so tasty we were excited for our breakfast juice. Which ended up being so big it covered both of our breakfasts, and his lunch. Woo! I'm having a Gazpacho inspired juice for my lunch. It's a bit harsh because of the onion (might reduce it next time) but tasty!
Our plan is to see how we fare having two juices a day and weaning off of regular dinners. Tonight we're enjoying left overs from an epic trip to a local restaurant that served traditional style Asian food. It was EPIC. No doubt about that!
So picture time:
So this was breakfast. We followed some of the day schedule planning laid out on Join the Reboot, and started with some hot water with lemon. We then juiced all of that to make three (3) sixteen ounce servings. Both of our breakfast and his lunch. Breakfast did not have the celery as the apples and pears were so juicy!
And this is lunch. I shoved as much parsley as I could into the two cup measuring cup, and then juiced all of this into a tasty contraption. All I added after was some pepper and salt.
So this is the beginning of a juicing journey. We will see how it goes!
