So today was a crazy day, and I will spare you all the details but let's just say I'm glad it's almost time for bed. I didn't have a Bento for lunch today as Logician didn't eat his from Tuesday. So I was lazy and instead bought some of the vegetarian food they serve on campus. It was nummy but I found that I deeply missed my Bento.
Logician had a test review this evening so while I was sitting and writing in my journal I got the idea that I should make Bento for tomorrow. Which for him will be a surprise as he has no school tomorrow. I was going to try to be creative and make a "pass your test" Bento complete with a rice "paper" with an A on it. But when I got down to the making of the Bento the creativeness left me. So instead I made a new recipe for the steak.

As you can see I also decided to go with one picture instead of the normal two. I took this picture with my iPhone as I am much happier with it's quality than the camera. Both boxes contain brown rice topped with basil ribbons, some carrot sticks, red pepper slices, almonds, blueberries, and raisins. Mine also contains the last of the dried kiwi which I meanly snitched for myself, and some raw broccoli. I finished his off with some snow peas.
For the protein dish of the meal I decided to do something more than just plain meat. We bought some more baby bok choy over the weekend and I was primed and ready to use it. So I borrowed Logician's wok and made a quick stirfry containing steak, garlic, basil, mushrooms, and bok choy. It was very easy to do and I used some soy and terriyaki sauces to provide the liquids. I am sure it will be delicious tomorrow.
I also had intended to add some of the dried plum to both of our boxes but again I was tired and just happy to get some Bento in for tomorrow. You might notice that my box seems to be lacking it's usual cucumber and tomato - never fear I still have them. Since school requires a lot of physical exertion I have found that I am usually starving by lunch time. So I now carry a second box (one of my Penguin boxes) with cucumbers and tomato in the smaller container and mushrooms, salad or some other item in the bottom box. Tomorrow I will be eating a mushroom, tomato, cucumber, and basil salad. I look forward to it.
