Reboot #2 Days 3 (Part 2) - Day 5

Welcome to another blog about juice! In all seriousness though I am so glad I figured out why I felt so poorly the last go round. I am feeling so much better this time and was even able to resist a horribly bad for me, but oh so delicious looking sheet cake at work yesterday. That was a tough fight!

So we finally weighed ourselves yesterday. Logician is down to 217.5 and I am down to 204. His weight loss is a bit slower this time but I think that's because he's not getting enough calories. We shall continue to argue this fact for awhile.

An interesting thing I forgot to write up in the last blog was that when we picked up those amazing grapes (yes they are still amazing), the cashier asked us if we had seen Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead (Join the Reboot). It is interesting to us that it seems like all sorts of people have seen the documentary and taken Rebooting into consideration. It reminded us just how epidemic the fast food diet is.

I don't know exactly what I will do if this Reboot gets me below 200lbs. I haven't weighed less than 200 since I was in high school. More on the days after the jump.

So I am trying to remind myself of where we left off, while also sorting the photos on my computer. So day 3 was Sunday and we basically spent most of the day at home (as previously mentioned) but I believe that I ended the day with a baked potato with a bit of salsa and a salad for dinner. Logician finished off with a fruit juice with the green powder in it.

So Day 4 we began the day with a juice we made up. As you can see it's sort of Mean Green but with carrots and grapes. This one was quite tasty and fun to look at as the juice separated in the glass. I think because this one was made with spinach we ended up needing another cucumber to fill it out. But don't quote me on that.

The main issues that we're having with coming up with our own juices is how to make sure it will be enough juice for both of us without being too sweet or too green. Tasty juices aren't the healthiest of all, but we try.

As you can see from the clock on the stove it was 7:52am when we began making this juice. We put everything together and then sat down to enjoy our ginger, lemon tea before we juiced and drank. It usually takes us a long time to get going in the morning so actually getting moving and having time to really enjoy the process is nice. Though the first few days it was hard.

We decided to give it another go and make up another juice while we were still in the winning column.

And so this juice was born. I ended up adding an extra tomato in order to space the juice out. I also added salt, pepper, and dried parsley, though I think I added too much salt. That beet is so tiny and yet everything was still beet colored and the flavor was almost too much for me. The basil was washed out by the other flavors, but all in all it was a tasty juice. My plan for next time is to leave the lime and salt out, add more basil, and make sure I juice all the tomatoes on low.

This was a very savory juice, and I was glad to have one that didn't need any "fruit" (tomatoes are fruit) to make it drinkable. I liked the look of it in the bowl and in the glass before we drank it. It was a great attempt.

I followed that up with a sauteed portabella mushroom cap over two baked potatoes mashed with almond milk, and a large salad as my dinner at work. Logician again chose the juice and powder route which I am guessing is why today he felt such a strong craving for "real" food.

This mornings juice was Watermelon, Mint, a Cucumber, and a head of green leaf lettuce. It was okay but the watermelon I picked out at the store was overripe and on the verge of being inedible so we didn't get much flavor out of it. It's definitely one we will try again but with a better watermelon. When it looks prettier I'll take a picture.

Lunch was a salad that was chockful of stuff. I put the rest of the green grapes, two European Hydroponic Seedless Cucumbers (tiny ones), Corn Shoots, microgreens, and an organic avocado over organic red leaf lettuce and topped it with sauteed shitake mushrooms, a tiny bit of a spring onion, and garlic. Which we then ate with a Red Pepper dressing. It was delicious, but means juice for dinner.

We're having another recipe from The Juicing Bible for dinner tonight. Pictures and more info to follow!
