Silence descended again, but with good reason! I had a crazy weekend involving a furbaby emergency (Kitty) and a lot of running about so here's the update.
Due to the kitty situation we ended up "cheating" twice this weekend. Though to be honest for what we used to eat, we still ate pretty darn healthy. We went to a Mongolian Steakhouse and made fish stir fry bowls (the cheats were the fish and the rice, but I did eat brown) on Saturday night and then Sunday afternoon we went to a place called Jason's Deli which has an awesome salad bar. We sort of needed something different after the craziness and I feel like with all the options available those were not bad choices.
So I left off Thursday lunch. Thursday for dinner we had Epic Tacos. That's right Epic with a capital E. We made "meat" out of a can of corn, a can of black beans, and a can of chopped tomatoes and chilis onto which we put normal taco seasoning (though next time we will make our own). These ended up becoming Taco Salad just because we wanted the veggies. We WANTED the veggies. In fact we demanded them. It was amazing.
I forgot to take a picture of the Epic Taco Salad but it's alright, it will happen again.
So Friday:
This was breakfast and I believe lunch for Logician. We invented it ourselves and it turned out to be quite a lot of juice. It was very taste, if not a bit tart.
This was Gazpacho take two. I still didn't quite like the flavor of it but I wasn't able to narrow down why. I am guessing it is because it was so much juice I didn't use all the cucumber (ended up only using half) and all the tomato (only used three). Peeled lime was definitely the better idea!
This was my solid dinner for eating at work. I never ate the actual salad because after the cucumber, tomato, and strawberry dish I was full! I was so surprised!
This was Logician's creation for lunch. It made enough for lunch and a small dinner for him. I tasted it but didn't like it as much as I would have liked too. But it was much better than some of the other ones!
So you might notice that there are no Day 7 pictures. That is because after one giant salad from Jason's I wasn't hungry again all day. Logician drank the left over Blimey Limey.
This was breakfast Day 8. Our supplies were running low on apples and the like so we invented a fruity juice out of what we had left. Under the mint is four cups of kale. I'm fairly certain we ended up adding another apple to this recipe but not sure.
Lunch for Day 8 was a repeat of the Parsnip/Sweet Potato contraption from Day 4 for Logician (sans onion) and a fruit/veggies juice I invented for myself. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't very good either!
This sideways picture is Logician's dinner. It's the Lemon Lime recipe from Join the Reboot. I didn't try it but he said it was tasty.
This was breakfast - well part of it. We ended up adding another Golden Delicious apple and an extra orange as well coconut water. It was fairly tasty though the lettuce did not give as much juice as we would have liked.
This recipe was crazy. This was supposed to be one batch (haven't looked to see if it was supposed to be one serving) of the V28 recipe on Join the Reboot. It made enough juice for lunch and for Logician's dinner (sans the three extra beets in the background). It was okay but the radish and beet overpowered the other flavors in my opinion.
I had two recipes from Join the Reboot for dinner - the Curried Sweet Potato and the Graram Masala Spiced Collard Greens. They were both exceptionally tasty. I added half a green bell pepper, a few mushrooms, fresh ginger, and a quarter of a sweet onion to the greens. They were so good!
Total weight loss so far has been five pounds a piece but it's been a few days since we weighed ourselves. He's sticking with Juice only doing three juices a day and I am doing two juices and a solid meal (or two smaller ones depending on my hunger level).
I love playing with the juicer! It is a new and well loved part of our family!
